George Pinneo brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his writing. His love for hard, non-fantasy, and non-magic science fiction, particularly stories involving interspecies contact and non-human intelligence, shines through in his work. George enjoys weaving threads of romantic involvement into his novels, adding depth and emotional resonance to his stories.
As an engineer, George has an extensive background in Ge and Si epitaxy and wafer fab. He was the fourth founder of an article surveillance system startup, where he invented products, processes, and systems to detect electronic tags, now known as RFIDs. His technical expertise extends to creating hermetic glass-to-metal seals, laser welding Kovar and certain aluminum alloys, and assembling and testing high power solid state GaAs laser diode arrays.
When not writing, George enjoys a variety of hobbies, including sailing, canoeing, hiking, flying, and jewelry making. He even built his own homebuilt experimental airplane, which he has been refining for 19 years. An avid traveler, he has visited 49 out of the 50 United States and has explored Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Western Europe, the cities of the Hansa, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and 18 Caribbean islands.
As a former member of the L5 Society, now known as the National Space Society (NSS), George has a deep-rooted interest in space exploration and the future of humanity beyond Earth.
